Wikipedia - Cymru South

The Cymru South is a regional football league in Wales, covering the southern half of the country. It has clubs with semi-professional status and together with the Cymru North, it forms the second tier of the Welsh football league system.

The first year of its operation was in 2019–20 with the Football Association of Wales owning and administering the tier 2 leagues for the first time. These changes followed on from a review of the Welsh Football Pyramid. Prior to 2019, the equivalent league was the Welsh Football League Division One, covering South Wales.

Wales - Championship South är en fotbollsturnering för herrlag i Wales. Turneringen är den tredje högsta divisionen i det walesiska fotbollssystemet, efter Cymru Premier och Cymru North.

Championship South består av 12 lag som spelar en dubbelserie om 22 matcher vardera. De två bästa lagen i tabellen får automatisk uppflyttning till Cymru North, medan tredjeplacerade och fjärdeplacerade laget spelar playoff om den tredje uppflyttningsplatsen. De två nedersta lagen i tabellen degraderas till Welsh Football League Division One.

Turneringen grundades 1992 som Welsh Football League Division Three. Den bytte namn till Welsh Football League Division Two 1995 och till Welsh Football League Division One 2002. År 2019 bytte den namn igen till Championship South.

Några av de mest framgångsrika klubbarna i Championship South är Cardiff City, Swansea City, Newport County och Wrexham. Dessa klubbar har alla spelat i högre divisioner och vunnit betydande titlar.

Championship South är en av de mest konkurrenskraftiga fotbollsturneringarna i Wales. Den erbjuder högkvalitativ fotboll och ger klubbarna möjligheten att nå framgång på nationell nivå.
